"Now the 2nd generation of Israelites are complaining like the first, even after the lord granted them victory over the Canaanites. "Why," they cried to Moses, "have you brought us out of Egypt to die in the desert?" How short-sighted they were, like many of us today---forgetting the victory the Lord has accomplished in our lives, only to have us grumble and complain again. But this time God sent snakes into the camp and bit many an Israelite. yet it was only then when they saw the error of their ways, and how they's sinned against God.
Here. we see perhaps the first OT look at salvation by faith:
he told Moses to make a bronze snake, and put it on a pole, so that many who are bitten can look up and not die.
Here also is an example of how God chastizes us, yet immediately delivers His people."

"God has a set way of doing things. this we need to acknowledge. As much freedom as the Lord allows us, we need to obey Him to the tee. Moses was frustrated with the complaining Israelites---understandably so---for they'd been in his ear night and day able never leaving Egypt and the "luxuries" they had there. Now they were thirsty and complaining about dying of thirst in the desert. So God accomodates them by telling Moses to speak to the rock and water will flow from it; but God's servant had had enough! He was fed up with their constant bickering, so what does he do? Instead of following the Lord's command completely, he gives his own interpretation of what God said: he hit the rock twice, full of anger at these ungrateful people. And though water did flow from it, he was guilty of disobedience. Frankly, I'd probably have done the same thing. Nonetheless, it was a violation of His holiness---therefore, because of these complaining people (and his own neglience), Moses and Aaron would NOT bring His people into the Promised Land. Aint no half-steppin' when it comes to God."

"How many of us are like this? Forgetting what the Lord has done for us, and still demanding more? in this passage, God had not only brought the children of israel out of Egypt, but also given them the bread from heaven---manna---to sustain them. but now they were bored of the manna, and had forgotten all about their safe passage out of slavery. now they wanted to complain (sounds like church people, me included). thinking back to the way things used to be, in their sin. it was too much for Moses to bear. He ordained seventy elders to share the load, and to deal, a lot easier with the people's complaints. But this time, God had enough. Though He'd given them the meat they insisted upon, His anger was such that He burned them up, even before the meat could be swallowed! this speaks to me especially, ecause many times I forget what the Lord brought me out of, only to demand even MORE from Him. We must be content with what God has given us and, though He loves to give us more, we can't take Him for grated, as if He's some kind of genie..."

"Here we see how important Offerings are. In dedication of the Tabernacle, God commanded the leaders of the Levite families to give an offering. What a great thing it was, for all these families to work together. If anyone ever had a doubt about the concept of tithes and offerings, I think they should look at this passage. Of course, back then, it wasn't all about money and recognition. they gave what was required of them They gave unto the Lord. It's funny how things have changed in the Church today, through the centuries. What happened to the concept of the Offering? Why does it always have to be money? cannot we give an offering of our time, and our fellowship, and our lives. Somehow things have gotten twisted."

"Is there a difference between the Showbread and The Bread of The Presence? If anyone knows, tell me. I've been studying Exodus, and the other parts of Moses' writings, and I don't quite know. I've always believed that the Showbread was a sample of the manna they ate in the desert---and I think its mentioned when David and his people go into the Holy Place to eat it when they got hungry---but, as I'm reading about construction of the Ark and its implements, I am suddenly given a term I'd not come across before: The Bread of The Presence. According to God's command, they are to be laid upon the Table in two rows of six, representing the Tribes. But is there a difference between it and the Showbread? Are they the same? Let me know, fellow bible-studiers."

"As much as we want to claim that the Old Testament is the old Law and done away with, we can yet see the fullness of God's character. In these verses I've read about Ark, and its construction, and how detail-oriented our Lord is. He doesn't take anything granted, of course, and nor should we. He has given us His promises, and His provisions, yet He insists on us following His Word to the T. whether it be New or Old Testament that we adhere to, we must be thorough in following His commands---for they're there for a purpose. This is a major lesson for me."

I need his help, and I know that He will be there. I found myself unceasing in my praises, for, as David put it, He is "worthy to be praised." God has shown Himself faithful to me countless times, so when i read this, I can surely attest to what God's Chosen has said."

"I am reading through the Holy Bible, book by book, verse by verse. I am surprised at how so many everyday sayings I have heard my entire life are found in this Book. In these chapters, Job makes the point that there are some evil men who will die in ease. Every man who does wrong will not necessarily have a bitter life. The righteous will suffer sometimes. It is better for a righteous person to hold on to God and trust Him when calamity comes instead of comparing his or her situation with others."

"I love how Paul equates love with an issue of maturity in the second half of this passage. Also we live in a day and time where pastors and believers are cold, hard, and unapproachable but Paul clearly states that without love all else doesn't matter. Modern believers like to give hard words of condemnation to "put us in check", but rarely show the patient, long-suffering love that Paul talks about here. I think if we focus more on love and less on putting people in their place the body of Christ would be a closer, more connected unit, and we would all be happier in one another's presence. As it stands though, so often when I go to church or try to talk to another believer, they attempt to tear me down, make me feel bad about myself, and try to make me feel inept in the presence of God. I already know I am a sinner, not worthy of salvation; but that I am also saved by God's grace, and His grace is sufficient for all my shortcomings. So in that light, since we all live there, we should be able to love one another without trying to entrap each other with the trappings of condemnation."

"God brought Israel out of Egypt and, even before bestowing upon Moses the Commandments that we've all come to know, He told them how to live; how to follow His holiness.
Though He loves us and is forever merciful, He insists upon a worthy lifestyle.
In our Christian walk we have been bombarded with new ideas of freedom and anti-legalism; but have we gone too far from what the Lord Himself commands. I too am guilty of this. It seems that we are all striving for an "easier" life in Christ and, although we've done away with many of the unnecessity of convention and ritual, we may be going too far from what God expects of us. Just food for thought."

"There are so many gifts within the body of Christ and they are so varied. Although the church focuses so heavy on a small set of gifts, Paul makes it clear that ALL the gifts are good and worthwhile. So far beyond the favorite few Christian gifts we are all very gifted, and all those gifts are given to us by the Spirit of God, and we are all within our right to employ those gits in service of the King. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise as it relates to the gifts given to you by God, they belong in the body, and there is a place for them."

"Jealous. Our God is a jealous God. He taught us how to live; gave of the Ten Commandments, which, many people believe was abolished, along with the Mosaic Law. But it is not. And will never be. God is a jealous God, and He wants us to love only Him. How do we show our love to Him? By obeying His commandments.
It is so easy to place things before God. We don't have to put up a graven image or bow down to an idol to be guilty of this. Oftentimes, the Lord takes the backseat to my many whims, my plans, my ideas, and even my dreams. "

The thing about prophetic visions is that when you know destruction is coming to a people and you try to share it, you are not always accepted as a result. Daniel was anguished because of his vision, and I can certainly relate. Be strong, hold on like Daniel did."
